Château Gigot, which has only ever produced red wine, has embarked on a new endeavor. They will be releasing their first white wine made from 100% Chardonnay grapes.
When we launched Château Gigaud Cuvée Viva, a red wine, in Paris at the beginning of 2010, Claude Bourguignon, a great expert on soils, came and tasted it. He told us that "there are limestone veins in the Blaye appellation, and the soil is the same type as Vosne-Romanée, so you should plant Chardonnay," which was the impetus for us to start making white wine. Please give it a try.
