Established in 1855, it was separated from Château Saint-Pierre, a Fourth Growth estate in the Médoc classification.
The second wine of Château du Granat
This is the most cost-effective wine from Saint-Julien, and a favorite among Bordeaux connoisseurs.
This is a château rarely seen in Japan. It was purchased by Gabriel Mefre in 1961. The vineyards are in a privileged location surrounded by Château Langois-Barton, Branaire-Ducru, and Gruaud-Larose. The winemaking consultant was the late Denis Dubourdieu. Temperature control and cold maceration are carried out. Fermentation takes place in concrete and stainless steel barrels with traceable monitoring, and malolactic fermentation is carried out in barrels. The wine is aged for 12 months. 15% of the barrels are new. The 2022 vintage is a unique wine. The producer himself praises this wine, saying, "This 2022 vintage is truly superb, the best we have produced to date, and balance, rich tannins, aromatic expression (black fruit), and freshness are the keywords of this vintage."
