Classified as a Third Growth in the Médoc classification in 1855, it is now owned by Suntory and is one of the leading popular classified wines. This is its second label. It is a classic Bordeaux style wine, appealing for its concentrated fruit flavors and abundant tannins.
The 2016 vintage is a deep purple color with a very rich bouquet of pure black cherry, crème de cassis, and crushed violet. The taste is refreshingly acidic, and it is firm and lively on the palate. The wine was aged for 14 months in 20% new oak barrels, then corked and aged for approximately 6 months.
