We've created an authentic chili con carne using a sauce made by concentrating the umami of tomatoes and flavorful beans. Simply put it in a bun with a sausage to easily make a chili dog. Adding grated cheese will give it a richer, more mellow flavor, making it even more delicious.

★What is Los Angeles Travel Can?

Chefs from hotels actively working towards the SDGs have devised recipes using off-grade vegetables discarded by farmers. This initiative aims to contribute to reducing food waste by giving new value to these vegetables as canned goods.
We named it "LA Travel Can" because it allows you to savor famous dishes from around the world as if you were traveling.

★The current state of food waste

In 2021, the WWF (World Wide Fund for Nature) announced that 1.2 billion tons of food waste on farms was being overlooked. In Japan, the estimated annual food loss of 5.22 million tons does not include waste on farmland. 1.77 million tons of vegetables are harvested but not shipped annually (Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, 2021 harvest and shipment figures for 41 vegetable varieties).
This project aims to make use of agricultural products that would otherwise be discarded. Canned goods, through vacuum cooking, can theoretically last almost indefinitely. In these times of frequent natural disasters due to climate change, long-lasting foods are extremely important in protecting human lives and health. We hope that "Loss Travel Cans," which utilize non-standard vegetables, will raise people's awareness of global social issues such as food waste and natural disasters caused by the climate crisis, and contribute to their resolution.
